The Sharks will travel to Butler on Saturday to join the rest of the SSSL in Finals.
The Harrisonville AquaCats felt the bite of the Barracuda on Saturday, as the Louisburg Swim Team raced past Harrisonville by a team score of 318-230 and in doing so dropped the AquaCats to second place in the South Suburban Swim League regular season with an overall 5-1 record. The AquaCats were the reining league regular season and finals champion and have long been considered at the team to beat in the league.
The AquaCats were overwhelmed in the water, just as all the league teams, by wave after wave of “Baby” Barracudas, as the Louisburg team can swamp the opposition with younger swimmers.
Harrisonville proved they were still powerful in the water, as they picked up 19 individual first place finishes, and split the relay events with the Barracudas 50-50..
Individual first place finishers included; Courtney Cumpton (girls 9-10 freestyle, and breast stroke); Travis Norman (boys 11-12 freestyle); Courtney Bomberger
(girls 13-14 freestyle); Mary Baer (girls 18 & over freestyle, and butterfly); Eric Brewster (boys 18 & over freestyle, butterfly and backstroke); Taylor Spencer (girls 13-14 butterfly); Ryan Bias (boys 9-10 breast stroke, backstroke, and individual medley); Noah Hermes (boys 11-12 breast stroke); Courtney Lemmer (girls 13-14 breast stroke, backstroke, and individual medley); Alex Hermes (boys 15 & over breast stroke and individual medley); and Allison Saffell (girls 11-12 backstroke).
The AquaCats will join the rest of the league at Butler on Saturday for finals.
The Golden Valley Dolphins fell to the Paola Piranhas in the final regular season South Suburban Swim League meet of the season by a team score of 253-212 at Clinton on Saturday.
The Dolphins exploited the Piranhas lack of younger swimmers to keep this meet close to the end, sweeping many of the individual events in the divisions under 10 years old.
In the girls 8 and under division, Savannah Sharman took first place in the freestyle, butterfly and breast stroke. Sadie Vernon took first in the 9-10 year old girls freestyle and breast stroke and third place in the butterfly.
