Barracudas take down AquaCats

The Louisburg Barracudas completed their climb to the top of the South Suburban Swim League, as they defeated perennial league power Harrisonville on Saturday by a combined team score of 318-230. The Barracudas completed the regular season with a 4-0-1 mark, and will head to finals this Saturday in Butler as the regular season league champion.

As has been their strength all year long, the Barracudas used an army of younger swimmers to rack up big points and show the league they will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come. In fact, the Louisburg swimmers in the age groups from 8 & under, 9-10 and 11-12 accounted for 188 of the team total 318 points.

WLH0181 The Barracudas were do dominate in those age groups, they swept 22 out of 30 possible first place ribbons, including all six first place ribbons in the butterfly. In all the Barracudas placed at least one swimmer in the top three places in every individual event in the younger age groups.

In the Girls 8 & Under age group, Molly Rison took first in the freestyle and backstroke and added a third place in the individual medley. Madelyn Prettyman took first in the butterfly, breast stroke and individual medley.

In the Boys 8 & Under age group, Kiefer Tucker took first in the freestyle and backstroke. Matthew McIntyre took first in breast stroke and individual medley as well as a second place finish in the freestyle. Brett Minor rounded out the stroke champions by placing first in the butterfly.

In the Girls 9-10 year old division, Reilly Alexander finished first in the freestyle, and second in the breast stroke. Logan Johnsen was first in the butterfly, backstroke and individual medley. Rachel Brock took first in the breast stroke and added third place finishes in the butterfly and individual medley.

In the Boys 9-10 year old division, Austin Burns took first place in the freestyle, second in the butterfly, and third in the individual medley. Mason Koechner took first in the butterfly, second in the backstroke and individual medley. David Bindi placed first in the breast stroke, second in freestyle and third in the butterfly.

In the Girls 11-12 year old division, Abigail Key took first place in the freestyle, and second in butterfly and breast stroke. Abby Brock took first place in the butterfly, breast stroke and individual medley. Natalie Moore finished first in the backstroke.

In the Boys 11-12 year old division, Adam Youngworth took first in the freestyle, and third in the backstroke. Jayme Shoemaker took first in the butterfly and third in the breast stroke. Nathan Moore took first place in the back stroke and individual medley.

The older age groups made contributions too, as Jack Rittinghouse placed first in the 13-14 year old boys freestyle, and second in the butterfly and individual medley. Jeremy Grenell placed first in the 13-14 boys butterfly and individual medley and third in freestyle. Garrett Wilder place first in the 13-14 boys breast stroke and backstroke.

Other first place finishers were; Isabella Peterman in the 15 & Over girls breast stroke, Jane Wallerstedt in the girls 15 & over backstroke, and Kim McKeever in the girls 15 and over individual medley.

The Barracudas will take their regular season title to Butler on Saturday to compete with the rest of the league at the SSSL Finals.
